The Worth, Word, and Work of God

by Jonathan & Lynne Zavodney • July 7, 2025

Know today and remember that Yahweh, he is the God in the heavens above and upon the earth beneath. There is no other. ~ Deuteronomy 4:39

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

SCHOOL  |  Reading, translating, and tracing the flow of thought… The month was given to these things. I read just under 2,000 pages of material related to Hebrew grammar, which was certainly challenging but surprisingly enjoyable. I translated and created exegetical outlines for Deuteronomy 4 and Deuteronomy 28:69–34:12. They are works in progress, but here they are should you care to see :-) The thing that is so striking about these chapters is how they emphasizes so strongly Yahweh’s supremacy, His matchless worth and His unwavering faithfulness to His own character. What an awesome God is our God!

FELLOWSHIP  |  I continue to help assemble devotional material to supplement the KINGDOM Bible reading plan app that will be launching soon. It’s been a sweet exercise as my soul is edified by the material I pull. Here’s an example for your edification: “Mining God’s Word is the means to the most grounded, authentic, satisfied, and God-glorifying life. Through Scripture ‘you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God’” (from “The Profit of Employing the Biblical Languages”).

Z-HOME  |  Our home has a lot fewer things within reach of a crawling baby (and a speedy one too!). Nora’s been having a blast discovering what all is in her little world, laughing as she goes- and we’re having a blast watching 😊 In God’s kindness, we are finding good rhythms to help balance the various areas of life, and also by God’s kindness, we continue to see fruit from our presence and ministry in our apartment community. Our church family has been intentionally supporting our ministry over the summer, and there has been a second family who has visited multiple weeks in a row, hearing the gospel preached each week. What a joy to see God work!

PRAYER  |  Please pray:

  • That God would help me finish Advanced Hebrew Grammar well—this course is foundational for my final project and all my future ministry as I seek to equip pastors with the skills they need for understanding and applying the Bible.

  • That God would continue to grant us wisdom, faithfulness, and trust as we labor in the various tasks He’s called us to.

We are so very thankful for your prayers. They are so necessary as we labor. We too are praying for you as you seek first Christ’s kingdom, running to win and suffering with hope. May God sustain your faith as you do so.
